The Emberá Indigenous people of northern Colombia were forced from their ancestral lands by years of conflict and violence. The displacement created a void, allowing drug cartels to use their land to cultivate coca fields and construct rustic processing plants. The Emberá have an ongoing challenge to reclaim territory seized by cocaine cartels, and ultimately preserve their way of life.
